For Project 4 I am researching standardized testing and if they should be required. These tests are so high stakes and for many students, like myself do not reflect my knowledge well. Though there are pros to standardized testing I believe there are more cons and that schools and universities should not require them. Standardized testing begins as early as Elementary school and does not stop for a long time. You are constantly taking these high stakes test which does not account for external factors, by testing a student you are only seeing how well they are performing on that day, that moment. Instead I believe we should be looking at growth over the full school year and see how the student is getting better. Since I am a Special Education major and plan to be working in the school system for a long time it is important to me that I understand the ins and outs of these types of testing. There might be a point where I am required to give my students a standardized test and I want to be knowledgeable about it so I can help my students the best I can. I plan to research not only tests like the SAT/ACT but also exams like EOGs (End of Grade) testing. I hoping to potentially talk to some of my previous teachers over break to see how they feel as educators about the high stakes testing and see their point of view on it as well.

March 27-30: Keep revising and finally turn it in on the 30th!
